Dr. David Ayares, CEO, CSO, and co-founder (in 2003) of Revivicor Inc. Dr. Ayares has guided all aspects of Revivicor to meet the goals of the investors while advancing the Company’s product development platforms. Formerly COO and Vice President of Research for the U.S. Division of PPL, for 6 years, directing all administrative and scientific aspects for the Virginia operation. Prior to joining PPL, he worked for 8 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry (at Abbott and Baxter), developing animal models and delivery systems for diabetes applications. Has previously served on the Board of two biotech companies, Intrexon and MaxLife, and is currently Chairman of VaBIO. He received a Bachelors Degree in Microbiology from Purdue University in 1982, and a PhD in Genetics from the University of Illinois Medical Center (1987), and did a post-doctoral fellowship in the field of Cancer Biology at MIT. Dr. Ayares is passionately committed to overcoming the world-wide shortage of human-compatible islets and donor organs, and the transformation of the transplant industry.
