Vivienne
Marshall, Ph.D.
Head of De-differentiation
and Stem Cell Program |
Vivienne Marshall
is currently head of the U.S. de-differentiation and stem cell program at Revivicor. This
program focuses on both the production of multipotent stem cells, without the use of
embryonic or fetal material, and the directed differentiation of these and other cells of
therapeutic importance, such as pancreatic beta islet cells. Dr. Marshall earned her Ph.D.
in Primate Embryology from the University College, London, investigating genomic
imprinting in a primate model, the marmoset monkey. She then worked for 6 years with James
Thomson, the father of human embryonic stem cells, at the University of Wisconsin,
focusing both on assisted reproductive technologies in non-human primates, and isolation,
culture and directed differentiation of primate embryonic stem cells. This work began with
the isolation of stem cells from non-human primates including rhesus and marmoset, and
culminated with the successful isolation and prolonged culture of human embryonic stem
cell. |
